Providing you with healthy options is something your dining team proudly does every day. We help you select delicious, nutritious meals, snacks and desserts by highlighting well-balanced menu choices and providing nutritional information
Food Allergies
We take pride in preparing recipes accurately and providing nutritional analysis and ingredient statements through our online menus and nutrition calculator. From general manager to front line servers, we work diligently to address students’ specific needs, especially those with food allergies, Celiac disease, or special diet needs. If Dining Services cannot meet a student’s medical needs within normal service, we may require additional medical documentation to enable us to develop a more specific meal plan accommodation. In this situation, we ask that the student contact our Office of Student Disability Support Services.
Simple Servings (in Thurgood Marshall Dining Hall)
Simple Servings is our allergen-safe, dining option for our customers with food allergies, gluten intolerance, or those who prefer simple, healthy foods. The Simple Servings station offers food free from common allergens: peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, wheat, soy, milk products, sesame, and eggs.
All foods offered are also free from gluten-containing ingredients. Simple Servings staff members are carefully trained to avoid cross-contact with food allergens. Separate equipment, storage areas, utensils and preparation areas minimize, but do not totally eliminate, the chances of gluten and allergens in our Simple Servings foods. 75% of Simple Servings items also meet our Mindful criteria, which makes it an easy and healthy choice for customers who are focused on ingredients and portion size to control weight, blood sugar and other health issues.
We want to meet one-on-one with all of our customers who have individual dining needs to ensure that your dining experience is safe and delicious. If you have a food allergy, medical condition, or nutritional concern, contact our Campus Dietitian, Dawn McMillian (dawn.mcmillian@sodexo.com) so she can ensure that you are receiving the support you need when dining with us on campus. You can also book a session with Dawn so she can answer any questions you have, helping you become more comfortable in your new dining environment!
Mindful
Mindful is Sodexo's health & wellness approach that helps you make healthy choices second nature! Central to this effort is providing healthy, nutritious foods. The result of this initiative is an approach that focuses on transparency of ingredients, delicious food, satisfying portions and clarity in message so that you can make Mindful choices!
Mindful offerings meet nutritional criteria based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Each meal part is limited in calories, has fewer than 30% of calories as fat, fewer than 10 % of calories as saturated fat, and is restricted in sodium, and cholesterol. Look for the healthy and delicious items, with the Mindful icon, offered at each meal.
Vegetarian
Menu items with the vegetarian icon contain no meat, fish or poultry, or any meat products such as soup base. Our vegetarian offerings meet the needs of lacto-ovo vegetarians and may include eggs and/or dairy products.
Vegan
Vegan offerings contain no meat, fish, eggs, milk or other animal-derived products such as honey.
